Register to Vote

Please note: Madison County’s voter registration is governed by the Code of Alabama and the federal National Voter Registration Act.

Are you registered to vote for the upcoming election? To register to vote in Madison County, you must meet five qualifications:

  1. Be a United States Citizen
  2. Reside in Madison County
  3. Be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day
  4. Have not been convicted of a disqualifying felony (or have your rights restored)
  5. Have not been legally declared “mentally incompetent” by a court
Remember to notify the Board of Registrars if your name or address changes. If your name or address is incorrect on the voter list, you will be required by law to provide your current information before you can vote. You will find the form to update your registration information at polling stations on Election Day. If you move to another county, you must register to vote in your new county of residence.
You can register to vote almost all year long. You must complete your voter registration at least 10 days before an election. These 10 days allow time to compile the voter registration list in preparation for the election. You must hand deliver or postmark your voter registration application to the Board of Registrars no later than the registration deadline for an election.
